Google Retires the Chromecast, Goes All-In on the Chromecast With Google TV

Google has just announced the all-new Chromecast with Google TV (HD), so the company sees no reason to continue selling the classic device.

In other words, the Chromecast, which is currently at its third generation, is being retired, with the company to continue rolling out updates for a little longer, as per a recent report.

“Chromecast with Google TV is our next generation of Chromecast, and has your favorite Chromecast features plus comes with the Google TV entertainment experience. You will still be able to purchase Chromecast (3rd gen) and Chromecast Ultra at select retailers while supplies last. We’ll continue to support all existing Chromecast devices with ongoing updates,” Google has been quoted as saying.
