Google AI Pro Free Trials Skip Argon and YouTube Lite

Key Takeaways: AI Pro Trial Limits
Trials are not full AI Pro: Google treats free AI Pro trials more like free users with higher Gemini limits, not like paid Pro.
No Gemini Argon in Antigravity: Google’s Antigravity docs say Gemini 4 Argon (and top Claude models) are for non-trial AI Pro only.
No YouTube Premium Lite: that bundle perk starts only after your trial ends and you convert to a paid plan.
Chromebook buyers are in this: Google offers long AI Pro trials with Chromebook Plus, other Chromebooks, Googlebooks and Pixel phones.

If you got months of “Google AI Pro” free with a Chromebook, Googlebook or Pixel, you may not be getting the same plan paid members get. As 9to5Google reported on October 16, free AI Pro trials skip several paid perks, and Google does not always spell that out clearly at signup.

What free AI Pro trials leave out

Antigravity and Argon: Google’s coding tool Antigravity lists Gemini 4 Argon under Google AI Pro, but a footnote says it is available on AI Pro for non-trial subscriptions only. The same rule applies to Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Opus 5.5 in Antigravity. To move from a trial to paid Pro, Google says you need to submit an upgrade request.

YouTube Premium Lite: Google’s own help page says the YouTube Premium Lite benefit is “unavailable until trials of Google AI Pro conclude and you convert to a paid subscription.” Third-party AI Pro trials are also excluded.

Google Store cashback: 9to5Google notes that the usual 10% Google Store credit perk is missing during free trials. That one is easier to understand, but it still catches people who rely on it.

Where these trials show up

Common offers: 9to5Google lists long free AI Pro trials tied to new devices and partners, including about 12 months with a Googlebook, 12 months with Chromebook Plus (or 3 months with other Chromebooks), 6 months with a Pixel 11, and other carrier or phone deals. Exact length depends on the offer.

How Google describes them: Pixel and store pages often highlight expanded Gemini limits, Gemini in Google apps, storage and Health Premium. They rarely call out the Antigravity Argon gap or the YouTube Lite delay. Some of those limits are written in Google One help pages, but not always next to the “free AI Pro” pitch.

What you can do

Read the offer details: before you buy a Chromebook Plus or Googlebook for the AI Pro trial, check whether Antigravity Argon, YouTube Premium Lite or Store cashback matter to you.

Converting early is awkward: 9to5Google says there is no simple button to end the trial and start paying so you unlock the missing perks. You may need to wait for the trial to end, or contact Google support to convert.

Our take: a free AI Pro trial is still useful for Gemini limits and storage, especially on a Chromebook. Just do not assume “AI Pro” on the box means every Pro coding and YouTube perk. For Argon in Antigravity, paid Pro is the real unlock.
