Gemini Argon Now Rolling Out to Google AI Pro Subscribers
Google has started rolling out Gemini 4 Argon, which we call Gemini Argon, to Google AI Pro subscribers. When Google first showed the model at the end of September, only AI Ultra members could try it. Now the cheaper Pro plan gets access too, as first reported by 9to5Google and confirmed on the Google blog.
New to the model? Read our full Gemini Argon guide for what it is and how to use it on a Chromebook, Googlebook or in Chrome.
What is changing
Model picker: AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers will see Gemini Argon in the Gemini app model picker, next to 3.5 Flash-Lite, 3.8 Flash and 3.1 Pro.
Better answers: Google says Argon answers more directly, with less hedging and less repetition. On longer jobs it shares its progress more often.
Chat or tasks: a new toggle in the main chat window lets you switch from chat to tasks, so Gemini can keep working on a job for you across your Google apps.
Who gets Gemini Argon
Usage limits: Ultra members get higher usage limits than Pro. Developers can also pay for Argon through the Gemini API.
How to try it
On a Chromebook, Googlebook or in Chrome
Step 1: open gemini.google.com and sign in with the Google account that has your AI Pro or Ultra plan.
Step 2: open the model picker and choose Gemini 4 Argon.
Step 3: if you do not see it yet, wait a day or two. Google rolls out features in stages.
In Google Antigravity
Already showing up: Gemini 4 Argon is now appearing in the Antigravity model picker for some AI Pro accounts, including ours. It also has its own weekly usage limit, separate from the Gemini Flash and the Claude and GPT model limits. We do not know yet if this separate limit is permanent.

Our take: this is good news for Pro subscribers. You get Google’s newest model without paying for Ultra, and it is already landing in Antigravity, with AI Studio on the way.
